Woo Hoo!!! We made it!

This year 8 members of the Flower Mound Social Club decided to participate in the 60 mile Susan G. Komen "3Day - Walk for the Cure" breast cancer awareness event on November 7 - 9, 2008.

Thanks to all the support of our friends we raised over $20,000 in memory of our good friend and FMSC member, Leigh Charles, a 20 year American Airlines flight attendant, who lost her battle with Breast Cancer this past year.

The participating members were Mark & Cheryl Byrd, Gay Lynn Downy, Eileen Brians, Kandy Kobar, Nancy Starr, Carmen Vandug and crew member Hank Buberl.

6 of the members walked all 60 miles and one member walked 25 miles. In additon, Wally Brians walked for 25 miles and crew member Hank Burbel walked 20 miles on the 2nd day.

This was definatly a test of endurance.Blisters were the norm, not the exception. However, the weather couldn't have been better.

We started out at Southfork Ranch in Parker, TX and ended up on the campus at SMU.

Let me tell you, these ladies ROCK. They suffered through blisters, falls and lack of sleep. It was my honor gettting to walk with them.
