Members of the FMSC Invaded Toesumel (aka Cozumel) |
| |
|
So what's Toesumel you ask? The video should explain it all, but in case it doesn't read "the rest of story" at the bottom.
For most of us, music is a instrumental part of our life. When we hear a song on the radio we are sometimes taken back to what was going on in our life during that time. It could be a romantic memory as in "Our Wedding Song" or it could be a sad moment as in a song played at a loved one's funeral.
For the 30 people that were part of this trip no doubt every time they hear the song "Toes" by the Zach Brown Band they will be taken back to Cozumel where we sang this song for 10 days. We even got Caesar, our dive master with Caribbean Divers to learn the song and play it at the Money Bar one night.
This is one of those songs that comes along every once in a while that is the perfect song at the perfect time. You can't create these moments on every trip, but when they happen, they are magical in that we are immediately taken back to Cozumel in our minds when we hear this song. So, for this trip we renamed Cozumel to Toesumel.
As the video shows, we had a great time. Come join us on one of our trips.

FMSC is a group of Flower Mound residents and associated friends dedicated to fostering friendships and camaraderie. Most of our members live in the Flower Plex (Flower Mound and surrounding suburbs like Dallas, Denton, Grapevine, Ft. Worth, Lewisville, Highland Village, etc.) but some travel from all around the world to join us on occasion.
There are no strict membership requirements or dues. We only ask our members to be responsible, fun loving people.
MEMBER DEMOGRAPHICS
Our group ranges in age from mid 20's to mid 50's (average age is late 30's to early 40's). The majority of our members work in the airline industry and most of the rest are successful professionals. About half of the group are couples and the other half single guys and gals.
Occasionally a love connection is made, but FMSC is NOT a pick-up club or dating service. It strictly affords an opportunity for old and new friends to meet, enjoy social activities, and expand circles of friendships.
AIRLINE CONNECTION
All of the original founders of FMSC are American Airline employees as are many of the FMSC members. We also have several other airlines represented, but FMSC is not associated with any airline nor restricted to airline employees.
HISTORY
The Flower Mound Social Club began in 2000 when several airline employees gathering for dinner, thought a "regular" get together in Flower Mound would be a good alternative to driving out of Flower Mound to "socialize". We formed what has become a successful "Social Club" and encouraged our local friends along with our non-Flower Mound friends to drive to the Flower Plex a couple times each month.
GATHERINGS
Our regular gatherings are the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (if there is one) Tuesday of each month at Cristina's Restaurant in Flower Mound, Texas (1171 & Shilo). We begin with a no host cocktail hour about 6:30 PM at the bar and then migrate to the dinning room for dinner about 7:30 PM. There are nights when we have in excess of 50 members present and others we may only have a handful. There are no RSVP requirements, so we never know how many we will have. Most activities are "adult entertainment", but kids are welcome when the venue is appropriate (you make the call).
OTHER ACTIVITIES
We also regularly participate as a group in other activities including lake outings, parties, golf, movies or shows, dancing, scuba trips, ski trips, sailing trips, bike rides, and much more. Most of our members are athletic and all are active adults. For the golfers we have a group that plays every Tuesday. The golf location changes each week, so contact us for more information. We have a wide range of skill levels with some low handicap members and other struggle to break 100. Both Guys and Gals are welcome.
KEEPING IN TOUCH
Timely communication is very important as many of the social events are short notice outings. We maintain an address book that is used for Flower Mound Social Club purposes only. Contact information is NEVER given to anyone for any reason. To facilitate members contacting each other and/or sending "notices" to the rest of the membership we encourage all members to register in our MSN Community (a private, members only access).

"The Andersons" are a fantastic group that play regularly in the Flower Plex. They are active members of the Flower Mound Social Club.
Kristi, (the one on the left) along with her business partner Janice, own Little Pete's Lake Grapevine. |
|
Several nights each month groups of FMSCers will gather to enjoy The Andersons music, dance, eat or drink, and support our friends.

Little Pete's Lake Grapevine is a favorite hang out of the Flower Mound Social Club. |
| Little Pete's is a restaurant located at the Twin Coves Marina on Lake Grapevine. It's owned and operated by two of FMSC favorite members, Janice Hodge and Kristi Anderson-Mattison (Yes, the younger one in the picture above). Stop by on the weekends and you might find half the FMSC out on the patio with the Andersons in full swing. If you're lucky you might get a free ride on the Frig'n Queen. We'll see you there.

P.S. If You're over 21 don't forget to ask for a rattlesnake. |

The Pine Tree Ski Club is a 32 year old ski club and whose president, (for the past 18 years) Cheryl Byrd, is one of our FMSC members. |
The Pine Tree Ski Club was formed in much the same fashion as the Flower Mound Social Club.
A bunch of friends in Center, Texas got together 30+ years ago to go on a ski trip. Today the club boasts members from around the world. They meet generally only once a year to go on their annual trip.
The trip for the last several years has been to Vail and before that it was alternated between Vail and Aspen. Many FMSC members have made this trip with more attending each year. You can find out more and look at past club pictures by clicking HERE.
Bill Downing the leader of the "The Walton Stout Band" has been a long time Flower Mound Social Club member.
|
 |
Bill's band has evolved from a "garage band" which played their first "gig" at the World Famous Day Before Labor Day Party to one of Flower Plex'sDallas top attractions.
The Walton Stout Band is perfect for weddings, corporate outings, private parties, clubs, or the big stage at Glass Cactus.
Check out the Walton Stout Band and follow their schedule at their website www.TheWaltonStoutBand.com. |

If you are interested in martial arts training, consider FMSCer Guy Mckee's Master Hans Texas. They are located in Lewisville and offer a variety of martial art disciplines. |

If you live in the Flower Plex (Flower Mound, Highland Village, etc) then you should know about a website called SupportFlowerMound.com.
At SupportFlowerMound.com their goal is to connect individuals and businesses located in Southern Denton County. The site was launched in September 2008 with a focus on Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville and the surrounding smaller communities. They encourage readers to post information regarding events and news in the Flower Plex communities in the “Community Forum” section of the site. Their mission is to create a fun, informative and useful forum for the increasing number of internet users in the fast-growing Flower Plex community.
The average site visitor is someone wanting to relax while surfing local information that is interesting, entertaining, pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. Southern Denton County has been breaking records as one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, but it still has that small town feel. Many of the businesses, writers, artists, photographers and other contributors to the forum may be people you already know. That's what makes their site so special and unique. We hope you enjoy the many facets this site has to offer.
